Draft of 1 October 2026, written for the testnet preview.
The short version
- We ask for the least we need: an email, a username, and the day's total from your phone's Health app.
- Chats, photos and snaps are deleted 24 hours after they are sent, unless someone in the chat saves them.
- Location and contacts are optional. Location sharing is off until you turn it on.
- No ads, and we never sell or rent your data.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who we are
Friendship is a social app: you get one task a day, on your own or in a group of up to 10 people, and when everyone in the group finishes, each of you earns a small reward in tokenized stock. The company that runs Friendship, and its address, will be named here before launch.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Email and password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. | To sign you in and to email you a code if you forget your password. | Until you delete your account. |
| Username, nickname, avatar colour, time zone | So friends can find you, and so your day ends at your own midnight. | Until you delete your account. |
| Health totals: for today's task, only the day's total (steps, distance or exercise minutes) and which app recorded it, plus your typical day over the last 14 days. | To check the task and to set a fair target for you. We never read single workouts, heart rate, sleep or any other Health data. | While your account exists. The exact period will be set before launch. |
| Chats, photos, voice notes and snaps | To deliver them to your friends. | Deleted 24 hours after sending unless saved. A snap opens once; its file is deleted once everyone has opened it, and after 24 hours at most. Snaps can't be saved. |
| Location (optional, off by default) | To show you on the map to the friends or groups you choose. | Only your latest position is kept, for 8 hours. |
| Contacts (optional) | To find friends who already use Friendship. Your phone turns each email address into a one-way code (a hash) and sends only those codes. | Not stored. The codes are compared once and thrown away. |
| Wallet address | Rewards are paid to the wallet the app makes on your phone. We only know its public address. | Until you delete your account. Payments on the blockchain are public and stay there. |
| Device and notification tokens | To keep you signed in and to send notifications you allowed. | Until you sign out or delete your account. |
| Reports and blocks | To keep the app safe. A reported message and the 4 before it are kept for review. | As long as the review needs them. |
What we don't do
- No ads, no ad tracking, no selling or renting of your data.
- Health data is never used for advertising and never shared for marketing.
- We never see your wallet's 12 recovery words. On iPhone they stay in this phone's Keychain. On Android they are also kept in your Google account backup, end-to-end encrypted with your screen lock.
Who helps us run it
The service runs on providers that store data for us and may not use it for anything else: Vercel (hosting and file storage) and Neon (database), both in the United States, and Resend (password-reset emails). Rewards move on Robinhood Chain, a public blockchain: your wallet address and the rewards paid to it can be seen by anyone, and nobody can erase them.
Your choices
- Location: choose ghost mode, friends or chosen groups in the app.
- Health, contacts, camera, notifications: turn each one off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account: in the app, Settings, then Delete account. Your profile, messages, media and group places are removed. Stock already in your wallet stays in the wallet, and the app removes the wallet from your phone, so write down your 12 words first.
- A copy of your data, or a question: write to the contact below.
Age and where Friendship is available
You must be 13 or older to use Friendship. Stock rewards are not available to US persons. Other places may be added to that list before launch.
Testnet preview
Friendship is in a test phase on Robinhood Chain testnet. Rewards are test tokens with no real value. No real money is involved yet.
Changes
This draft will change before launch. When it does, the date at the top changes too, and the app tells you about anything important.
